The Porsche 911 GT3 (Type 991) was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013. Equipped with a 3.8-liter flat-six engine, it develops 475 horsepower at 8,250 rpm. This engine, although derived from that of the Carrera S, has been extensively modified, with specific components such as titanium rods and forged pistons, allowing the engine to reach 9,000 rpm. It is equipped with a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox and rear steering, two technologies borrowed from race cars.
The 911 GT3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 325 km/h. His time on the Nürburgring is 7 minutes and 25 seconds. In 2014, reliability problems were discovered, linked to a manufacturing defect in the connecting rod bolts, leading to a recall of the 785 copies produced. Porsche then corrected the problem and offered an extended warranty.
In 2017, a restyled version (991.2) was unveiled, with a 4.0-liter engine developing 500 horsepower and an option for a manual gearbox. The GT3 Touring was also launched, removing the rear spoiler for a more discreet style, while maintaining the performance of the standard GT3.
