Unveiled in 1984 at the Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari Testarossa made an impression with its unusual characteristics. With an iconic silhouette and a V12 in a central rear position, aerodynamic research plays a major role in the design of the Testarossa. A successful model, among the Italian brand's best-selling, the Testarossa was however not the most loved by all. His weight and size played a major role in these opinions, which were quickly erased by the years and by a meteoric rise in his popularity.
This Ferrari Testarossa copy completed its first laps in France. Put into circulation on March 2, 1989, it passes into the hands of 3 owners until today. After being purchased by its first owner in 1989, it was acquired by the second owner in 2001, then by its current owner in 2014. In very good general condition, this Ferrari Testarossa has benefited from particular care by its previous owners. Its body, decorated with Rosso Corsa Ferrari red, is in very good condition. There is no impact on it and the paint offers brilliance and depth. The underside of the front bumper is slightly rubbed on one side. Polishing has been done on the body. In the cabin, the various elements, whether the seats, the steering wheel, the dashboard or the instrumentation, are in good condition. The leather seats show few signs of use, and the other elements have no visible defects. The on-board instrumentation is operating normally.
On the mechanical side, this Ferrari Testarossa has a V12 in a central rear position in very good working condition. Start-ups are smooth and no extraneous noise appears during use. The openings are well aligned and the bases are healthy. The 5-speed manual gearbox operates normally and allows for fast and accurate reports. With 55,600 kilometers on the clock, this example is in excellent condition.
Maintained at Ferrari Pozzi in Paris, this Ferrari Testarossa has a complete maintenance book and numerous invoices. The last maintenance was carried out on October 6, 2020 for the 55,129 km. This example has new tires and brakes in very good condition. A stainless steel exhaust line is added to obtain an even more present sound.
A replacement of the distribution is expected in 2025. Apart from this, there are no costs to be incurred after the purchase. This Ferrari Testarossa has optional luggage.
The Ferrari Testarossa, unveiled for the first time in 1984 at the Paris Motor Show, is part of the line of supercars produced by the famous Italian brand. Developed to succeed the Ferrari 512 BB, it was developed in response to stringent emissions and safety requirements, while meeting the expectations of the growing high-performance sports car market.
One of the distinguishing elements of the Testarossa is its series of side slits, born from a collaboration between Ferrari and Pininfarina, the famous Italian designer. These slots, in addition to being aesthetically appealing, had an essential function: to deliver fresh air to the laterally mounted radiators, thus eliminating the need for radiators at the front and allowing for better weight distribution. The exterior design also reflects careful aerodynamics, offering a balance between performance and style.
The name “Testarossa,” which means “red head” in Italian, refers to the engine's red-painted rocker covers. The engine, a 4.9-liter flat-12, developed a power of 390 horsepower and was coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This block allowed the Testarossa to reach a top speed of 290 km/h, with an acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in just over 5 seconds.
The production of the Testarossa started in 1984 and continued until 1991. Over the years, it has seen minor improvements and adjustments, but its iconic silhouette has remained relatively unchanged. In 1991, Ferrari introduced the 512 TR, an evolution of the Testarossa, which included mechanical improvements, an increase in power, and minor cosmetic adjustments. The 512 TR was itself replaced in 1994 by the F512 M, the latest iteration of the Testarossa series. It was distinguished by aesthetic changes, including exposed headlights instead of the original retractable headlights.
The Testarossa has been widely recognized for its bold design and impressive performance. She has also played a role in popular culture, appearing in several movies, television series, and video games. Despite occasional criticism about its weight and size compared to other Ferrari models, the Testarossa was one of the brand's top-selling cars during production.
Over the years, the Ferrari Testarossa, with its bold lines and iconic status, has certainly made automotive history. It symbolizes a time of transition for Ferrari, combining tradition and innovation to adapt to new market realities while remaining true to the brand's heritage.
