The Aston Martin V8 Vantage, launched in 2005, represents a major step forward for Aston Martin as an agile and compact sports car. Unlike previous “Vantage” models based on other GTs, the V8 Vantage is a standalone model, intended to compete directly with the Porsche 911. Presented at the Geneva Motor Show, it is distinguished by an aluminum structure combining lightness and solidity.
It was initially powered by a 4.3-liter V8 engine delivering 380 horsepower, then a 4.7-liter, 426-horsepower model was introduced in 2008. This dry sump engine, handmade in Cologne, allows for a lower center of gravity for better handling. The six-speed manual transmission or an automated “Sportshift” transmission was available.
The V8 Vantage reaches 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 282 km/h. Careful design by Henrik Fisker, customization options and a luxurious leather interior made it a success for the brand, with more than 15,000 copies produced before the end of production in 2017. The 2009 model benefits from various improvements, strengthening its reputation among the elite sports cars of the time.
