Produced as an extremely limited run, supplied only to Ferrari racing drivers and available in only four colour schemes together with the iconic tricolore livery, the Piloti is an extremely rare and collectible special edition, offering a distinct design and several options over the base Pista. Additional carbon fibre elements, special livery, and a custom racing number adorns the car, giving the Piloti its racing-inspired look. The interior is just as special, with various tricolore flags sprinkled around the cockpit, and a custom identification plate which bears a tribute to the WEC team and the Piloti - the drivers - that brought the team to victory in 2017.
This car was bought new from H R Owen Ferrari main dealer by a Ferrari racing driver who competed in the Ferrari Challenge series, then sold to another Challenge series racing driver, then to the present owner who, like the previous owners, has not driven it more than 100 miles.
It has been serviced at date intervals dues to it’s very low mileage, and has a fully Ferrari-stamped service book detailing all services carried out.
In addition to the monstrous engine there has been a 90 kg weight reduction through the increased use of carbon fibre and reduced sound deadening, add to this an increase in downforce at both axles courtesy of the new bodywork, splitters and diffuser plus stiffer springs with recalibrated dampers and the Pista starts to put serious distance between itself and the standard 488 GTB. Other differences include faster shifts from the 7-Speed F1DCT, updated electronic chassis control systems and an Inconel/Titanium exhaust system producing a unique bassy sound. Although the ‘bumpy road’ suspension button does an impressive job at loosening off the suspension and improving ride quality on uneven roads, the Pista demands to be driven on the track in order to exploit its full potential. After all, ‘Pista’ does directly translate to ‘Track’ from Italian.

The Ferrari 488 Pista is the ultimate Ferrari to drive. Utilising the tremendous mid-engined V8 formula from the 458, the F430, and the 360, following the bloodline back to the 308 from 1975. The 488 Pista has taken this classic Ferrari recipe and added a considerable amount of carbon fibre, aerodynamics, and, most notably,power.
The 488 Pista features the most powerful V8 Ferrari, creating 720bhp and 770nm of torque. In addition to this power, the Pista features some of the newest technology straight from the racing world. Including meticulously tested aerodynamics proving to be 20% more efficient than the 488 GTB and a rigorous weight-saving program, the Pista is also an impressive 90kg lighter than the 488 GTB.
All of these track-inspired improvements led to the name. Pista translates directly to Track in English. Ferrari chose this name to pay homage to Ferrari's unparalleled heritage in motorsports.
As if the Pista wasn't quite special enough, in 2018 Ferrari revealed the Piloti. A 1 of 40 limited edition 488 Pista created to celebrate Ferrari's success in the 2017 World Endurance Championship. The Piloti is the work of Ferrari's Tailor Made division and features a racing livery inspired by AF Corse's #51 488 GTE race car. The Italian flag motif flows throughout the entire car, from the livery, to the seat backs and even the edges of the paddle shifters.
