This Rolls-Royce Corniche Coupé FHC, one of the rare examples of the 5000 series, was put into circulation on September 15, 1980 in France, via Franco-Britannic. This exceptional car covered 84,600 km and had only 4 owners, including the current one who has owned it for over 18 years.
Presented in an elegant Garnett color, combined with a Tan leather interior, this Corniche is enhanced by a complete painting carried out by the Lecoq establishments, giving the body an appearance close to competition. The natural patina of the interior testifies to its history while maintaining good quality.
Under the hood, we find a 6.75L V8, offering power considered “adequate”. This 5000 series model benefits from the latest mechanical and suspension improvements, including the mineral oil hydraulic system, borrowed from the Silver Spirit line. The air conditioning system, recently revised, works perfectly.
The maintenance was monitored regularly by Rolls-Royce specialists, and the complete history is available with all invoices. The consumables are in very good condition, and there are no costs to expect for this car ready to be delivered.
The Rolls-Royce Corniche Coupé FHC, produced from 1971 to 1980, is one of the rarest cars of the brand. Produced in only 83 copies during the year 1980, including 37 in LHD and 5 for France, the Corniche Coupé differs from convertibles by its increased rigidity, offering a more pleasant driving experience, in particular thanks to chassis developments specific to the 5000 series.
It is equipped with the modified suspension and hydraulic system of the Silver Spirit, a significant evolution even before the launch of this model. In 1975, the Corniche already adopted the air conditioning system planned for the Silver Shadow T2, which would not be launched until two years later.
The Corniche takes its name from an experimental prototype from 1939, and is a derivative of the two-door versions of the Silver Shadow, produced by Mulliner Park Ward. Its engine includes a 6.75 liter V8, coupled with a 3-speed automatic transmission, as well as a hydraulic suspension system for exceptional driving comfort.
Highly sought after on the market, this 5000 series Corniche Coupé is sometimes considered to be the “Holy Grail” of collectors, in particular because of its rarity and the technical improvements that make it a model apart.
