The Porsche Cayman GT4, introduced in 2015, is a high-performance, track-oriented version of the Cayman 981, unveiled in 2012. This model uses a slightly deflated version of the 3.8-liter 3.8-liter flat-six engine from the 911 Carrera S (991), coupled exclusively to a 6-speed manual transmission. The GT4 thus develops 385 horsepower for a weight of 1,340 kg. With a fixed rear wing, a front spoiler, and improved air intakes, the GT4 offers better downforce and optimized cooling.
The GT4 chassis, which is 30 mm lower than the standard Cayman, is reinforced and uses components from the 911 GT3, such as brakes and active suspension (PASM). A limited-slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring improves cornering stability. The GT4 is also equipped with a Sport Chrono package with a Track Precision application to collect telemetry data via a smartphone.
The GT4 stood out for its performances, with a Nürburgring time of 7 minutes 40 seconds and a top speed of 295 km/h. The Club Sport version offers additional equipment such as a half-roll bar and track safety accessories. The model has been praised by the specialized press for its balance and driving sensations.
