The Porsche 981, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012, is the third generation of the Boxster and Cayman. The 981 is the first Boxster to use electronically assisted steering and an electric parking brake.

The most extreme model, the Boxster Spyder, was introduced in 2015. Lightened to 1,315 kg, it has a 3.8-liter, 375-horsepower flat-6 engine.
