Our Porsche 944 Turbo Cup was delivered new in France and put into circulation on January 28, 1988. It has known 4 owners since that day, including its current owner since 2005.
This copy, sold in only 100 copies in France, is in excellent general condition. In a special Silver Rose Metallic shade, combined with Fuchs forged magnesium alloy wheels and Burgundy plaid seats, this Porsche 944 Turbo Cup is perfectly preserved.
On the mechanical side, its operation is flawless. Its 2.5L 4-cylinder engine developing 250 horsepower, combined with the 5-speed manual gearbox, offers excellent performances, directly taken from the competition version. All engine maintenance is carried out in the Porsche Center. Numerous invoices are available. The last maintenance is carried out during the winter of 2024 at the Grenoble Porsche Center.
Here are the options and equipment available to this Porsche 944 Turbo Cup:
In 1976, a new model appeared at Porsche, the 924. Equipped with a front engine, the 924 was quickly followed by the 928 two years later. The front V8 engine architecture, in total opposition to the philosophy of the 911, was welcomed by customers. These new models were the idea of Ernst Fuhrmann, then director of Porsche, to get out of the 911 monoculture.
Ernst Fuhrmann, rather reluctant to the idea of extending the production of the 911, planned to replace it with the 928 and the models with front V8 engines. The decision comes at the same time as a decline in 911 sales and a series of global changes, including rising oil prices and growing public concern about ecology and safety. This decision will not pass with customers, and history will remember the return of 911 in full force. However, front-engine Porsches will not disappear, and will continue on their way. In 1982, the 924 was replaced by the 944. The defects noted on the 924 are all over, from the quality of manufacture to the behavior, including the interior space. The major difference is found in the engine. The old V8 engine produced in collaboration with Audi was replaced by a 4-cylinder engine derived from the 928's V8. A 100% Porsche engine, this 4-cylinder engine offers 2,479 cc of displacement.
The 944 is available in 3 versions, namely the 944, the 944 S and the 944 Turbo. This latest version, released in 1986 from the factories, is overwhelming. With 220 horsepower, it can reach 254 km/h and reach 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The front and rear bumpers are redesigned, new air intakes appear to cool the turbo and Brembo brakes provide braking. The 944 Turbo did not undergo any significant changes until 1988. That was without counting on the new Porsche 944 Turbo Cup International competition launched in 1986, and its associated model. The 944 Turbo Cup competition is suitable for marketing. It outclasses the 944 Turbo, in particular with its 250-horsepower engine, its even bigger turbo and its new brakes. It benefits from a reinforced driveshaft, adjustable Koni shock absorbers, ABS and a self-locking differential. A special Silver Rose paint is offered for the occasion, accompanied by Turbo strippings and Burgundy plaid upholstery. Produced in 1635 copies, including only 100 in France, the Porsche 944 Turbo Cup is the reference for LDCs.
