This Porsche 928 S4 was put into circulation in 1991. With 164,800 km on the clock, it is equipped with the 5.0L V8 engine developing 320 hp. Presented in very good general condition, with a black body that benefited from a veil of paint in the early 2000s and a perfectly maintained leather and black fabric interior, it perfectly represents the know-how and quality of Porsche in the 90s.
Owned by its current owner since 2006, it has a complete and clear history with supporting invoices since 2002. Carefully maintained for more than 20 years, it has recent costs, ensuring perfect functioning from the moment of purchase: 4 new tires, geometry carried out, technical inspection validated, belt changed, belt changed, new battery and recent drain.
Its 320 hp V8 roars as when it left the factory and allows you to experience the superb sensations of this GT from the 90s. It also has the sunroof option and the tinted windows option.
At the dawn of the 70s, Porsche wanted to get out of its image as a single-model brand. And despite the resounding success of the 911, some managers in Zuffenhausen will try to push the iconic coupe out. Indeed, the layout of his flat-six in a backpack was considered outdated and without a future. An observation that seems funny in retrospect but which fuelled virulent debates at the time.
This desire for diversification will result in the development of new bodies and engines giving rise to PMA (front-engine Porsches) such as the 944 and 928.The latter embodies Porsche's desire to position a car on the GT 2+2 sports market. It began its development phase in 1971 and went into production 6 years later in 1977. Equipped with a 4.5-liter V8 placed in the front position, it sports an avant-garde design that is the opposite of that of the 911. And like all LDCs, it was not really unanimous among Porsche owners, considering this new architecture to be sacrilegious. But regardless, his core target was not here. Widely intended for the American public, its V8 and automatic gearbox allowed it to quickly benefit from great popularity across the Atlantic.
Surprisingly, the 928 will have a lifespan of 18 years during which several ever more powerful and successful versions will follow one another. In 1986, the Porsche 928 was reviewed and marketed as an S4 version, an improved version of the S2 version with the 320 hp 5.0 L V8 engine. The front and rear bumpers were redesigned to improve aerodynamics and a rear spoiler appeared in particular to improve downforce at high speed.
