Launched in 2015, the Porsche 991 GT3 RS phase 1 is the top of the range model in the 911 range. This vehicle was designed not only for the road, but also for the circuit, reflecting the essence of Porsche's commitment to motor racing.
The 991 GT3 RS is in line with Porsche GTs, heirs to a long tradition of track-oriented sports cars. It continues the legacy of earlier models such as the 997 GT3 RS. With this in mind, Porsche sought to bring this racing model even closer to its road counterparts.
The heart of the 991 GT3 RS is a 4.0-liter flat-six engine, developing 500 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox, which is optimized for faster gear changes. Unlike other models in the 911 line, the GT3 RS was not offered with a manual transmission when it was initially released. The body, on the other hand, is wider than that of the standard GT3, allowing the installation of wider tires at the rear for better grip. In addition, specific aerodynamic elements, such as the large rear wing and the front splitter, have been added to increase downforce at high speed.
When it comes to weight, Porsche has made great efforts to reduce the mass of the GT3 RS. The use of lightweight materials such as magnesium for the roof and carbon fiber for the hood and trunk lid made it possible to achieve this goal. The result is an empty weight of only 1,420 kg. In terms of performance, the GT3 RS can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, with a top speed of 310 km/h. The braking system also lives up to performance, with carbon-ceramic composite brake discs offering exceptional stopping power.
