The condition of the body, the interior and the mechanics is impeccable. The consumables (brakes, tyres, etc.) are new, and no costs are to be expected. Vehicle history is available.
The Mercedes-Benz 350 SL, the first variant of the R107 chassis, appeared in 1971, marking the start of a series that would last until 1989, one of the longest in the history of the brand. It replaced the W113, which was very popular in the United States, and established itself as a flagship model on the American market, where it generated 68% of its overall sales.
This two-seater convertible was equipped with a 3.5-liter V8 engine for European models, combined with an optional 4-speed automatic transmission at the beginning. The body combined a standard soft top and a detachable hardtop for winter. The model was built on Mercedes W114 chassis components, which provided a robust and reliable platform.
The 350 SL was also distinguished by its first technological advances, such as Bosch electronic fuel injection on 1971 models, and solid performances for the time with a 0-100 km/h in about 8 seconds. During production, several variants, such as the 450 SLC with a 5-liter aluminum engine, were introduced, some designed for competition.
The last R107, produced in 1989, testifies to the longevity and historical importance of this generation, which can be seen today at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.
