After 2 models only produced for the Japanese market, Honda produced the S800 and launched itself on the European market with a technology that was very different from that used on the old continent. Originally from the French market, this Honda S800, put into circulation on May 10, 1967, is one of the few coupe versions of the Japanese still in a good state of conservation. Well preserved, it has a body in very good condition, but chrome, front and rear, as well as on the rims, slightly corroded. Its body features an Alpine Blue color, which is not the original color, and numerous stickers adding a sporty spirit to the copy. Passed into the hands of 5 different owners, this Honda S800 was sold in 1990 after being owned for 23 years by its first owner, then in 2008, 2011, January 2016, January 2016 and April 2016.

The cabin of this example is in very good condition, well preserved by its various owners despite its old age. The black upholstery is of good quality and is in good condition with no significant signs of wear. The 3-spoke steering wheel and the dashboard, with a plugged aluminum center console, are in perfect condition and all of the instrument cluster is functional.

Renowned in part for its astonishing engine offering the possibility of reaching more than 9,000 rpm and a rare sound for 78 horsepower, the mechanics of the Honda S800 give a real soul to this model. Our example has a mechanism in perfect working condition. It benefits from a complete resumption of its mechanics for its 70,000 km, and now has 79,000 km on the clock. All the elements of the frame are healthy and the various openings are well aligned.

Maintained by vintage car specialists, this Honda S800 has a history of more than 40 years with a complete invoice file. The last revision was carried out in 2021, the tires and brakes are in good condition.

Under the hood, the S800 was equipped with a 791 cc, DOHC inline four cylinder engine capable of generating 78 horsepower at 8,000 rpm. The small displacement of the engine was offset by a lightweight design, allowing the car to reach speeds in excess of 160 km/h. Fuel consumption was estimated at around 7 liters per 100 km, a remarkable performance for the time.

The sophisticated suspension system, consisting of front torsion bars and a rigid rear axle, provided an optimal balance between comfort and handling. The front disc brakes and the rear drum brakes ensured effective braking, in line with the vehicle's performance.

Its compact and elegant design, with clean lines and harmonious proportions, was in contrast to competing models of the time. The body design, simple but refined, with particular attention to detail, reflected Honda's commitment to quality and style. The production of the S800 has faced challenges due to the strict emission and safety standards that have begun to be imposed on international markets, especially in the United States. As a result, production of the S800 ended in 1970, after the production of approximately 11,536 units.
