Our Ford Mustang Fastback “S-Code” was manufactured in May 1967 in Michigan before being distributed on the East Coast of the United States, probably in New York. Imported to France in 2014, it changed owners in 2023.
This copy has a Bordeaux hue, while its original configuration was Blue Bell (B5). The interior, completely restored, is dressed in elegant cream upholstery (Code 2A). The condition of the body is irreproachable, with no faults to report.
Under the hood, this Mustang houses a 390 ci Big Block V8 engine developing 325 horsepower. A modernized 5-speed manual gearbox has been installed for optimal driving pleasure, while respecting the spirit of the model. Maintenance was carried out by American car specialists, and an extremely comprehensive history file accompanies the vehicle. The last revision was carried out in 2023. All consumables are new, and no costs are expected.
The Ford Mustang Fastback “S-Code” is an iconic version of the first generation Mustang, produced between 1967 and 1969. This model is distinguished by its 390 cubic inch (6.4 L) V8 engine developing 320 horsepower, intended for performance enthusiasts. The name “S-Code” in the vehicle identification number (VIN) indicates the presence of this powerful engine.
In 1967, the Mustang underwent a major restyling, integrating a larger and more aggressive body, with a redesigned radiator grill and sharper taillights. The Fastback, with its plunging roofline, offers a sporty silhouette that accentuates its aerodynamics. Ford offers this model with several transmission options, including a 4-speed manual gearbox or an automatic.
The Mustang “S-Code” is particularly popularized by the movie Bullitt (1968), where Steve McQueen drives a modified version in a legendary chase in San Francisco.
This model is prized by collectors for its combination of power and style. It epitomizes the evolution of the Mustang towards stronger performances, prefiguring later versions like the Boss 429 and the Mach 1. Today, a well-preserved Mustang Fastback “S-Code” is a rare and sought-after piece in the world of classic cars.
