Our Ferrari California T was delivered new in France in 2015. It then had 4 owners, including its current owner, French, in early 2023. Our Ferrari California T is in excellent overall condition. In Silverstone Grey, combined with a black hardtop, Grigio Corsa Opaco rims and a black leather, carbon and alcantara interior, our Ferrari California T is in remarkable condition.
On the mechanical level, our Ferrari California T works perfectly. Its 3.8 l V8 engine with a displacement of 560 horsepower and 755 Nm of torque, combined with the dual-clutch automatic transmission, still offers impressive performance. Renowned and known to all since the release of 2 models in 2009 and 2014, the name California, evocative of a gentle stroll on a sunny afternoon by the sea, appeared as early as 1957 at Ferrari. To return to the sources of California history, you have to take a leap into the past, and remember the story of a certain... Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta.
Produced in the late 1950s, the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta appeared after victory at the wheel of an Armando Zampiero Mercedes 300 SL in the 1955 Italian Sports Car Championship. Received as a challenge, coachbuilders Pinin Farina and Scaglietti unveiled the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta “Tour de France” in 1956. The first in a long line of 250s, intended for racing, it was available in a road version in 1958 under the name of Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet, then in a California Spyder version in a long wheelbase (LWB) version in 1958. The name California appears for the first time, while the name Spyder only refers to a convertible version on this model. Available in a second series in a short wheelbase (SWB) version between 1960 and 1962, the 250 GT California Spyder was assembled in only 106 copies (50 LWB versions and 56 SWB versions). A very exclusive model that is sought after by collectors, it is selling at auction nowadays at prices in excess of several million euros.
In 1966, a second Ferrari was given the California name, the Ferrari 365 California Spyder. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, it is the first 365 of the name, more confidential than the 365 GTB/4, and yet just as exclusive. Designed by Pininfarina, its chassis is based on that of the 500 Superfast and its production will consist of only 14 models.
42 years later, Ferrari returned to its California name and unveiled the Ferrari California at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The second convertible coupe model from the brand with the prancing horse (after the 575 Superamerica), it has a retractable hardtop, a first for Ferrari. Two other innovations also appeared: it became the first Ferrari with a V8 engine before and the first to have the new dual-clutch transmission. Equipped with a 460 hp engine offering 485 Nm at 5,000 rpm, it reaches 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h. With a completely redesigned design, a retractable hard top and a raging V8 engine, this California offers a successful mix between sportiness and comfort, a Ferrari for everyone, which does not forget its roots and knows how to make itself heard on country roads.
In 2014, an improved version called “California T” was unveiled. With a chassis and body entirely made of aluminum, a reduced steering angle, more responsive steering and a V8 engine revised to reach 560 hp, it surpasses its predecessor and offers the best of Ferrari in a 2+2 convertible coupe. In terms of design, this California T takes up the famous style of the pontoon wings of the 250 Testa Rossa and has a compact and muscular rear, while having an elegant character and sinuous shapes. Finally, Ferrari chose the California T, 25 years after the F40, as the new owner of a Turbo engine. Indicated thanks to the name “T”, the work of the Italian brand allows it to offer a musicality that is as powerful as it is pleasant, typical of the prancing horse.
