- Exemplary in perfect condition
- Rigorously complete history
- Model produced in only 222 copies
- First model after the death of Enzo Ferrari
Produced from 1990, the Ferrari 348 took several years to find its place in the range and in the hearts of Ferrari fans. Unveiled a year after the death of Enzo Ferrari, the “Commandatore” and his ideas miss his teams. The Ferrari 348 is therefore the first post-Enzo Ferrari Ferrari and has a lot to do to satisfy customers. At the end of 1993, Ferrari put things back on track and designed the Ferrari 348 GTB, an improved version of its 348.
Launched on February 8, 1994, this example of a Ferrari 348 GTB has a complete history recounting its entire journey since its first sale. Sold in Berlin in Germany on February 10, 1994, it remained in the hands of its first owner for 12 years. With 68,000 km covered and 3 revisions carried out at a Ferrari dealership, it was sold to a German garage. Its second owner purchased it in July 2006 for a period of 7 years and also carried out 3 revisions at Ferrari, before selling it in Austria to a specialized garage. At the end of 2015, the current owner bought this 348 GTB with 81,000km on the clock.
Rigorously maintained by its various owners with regular maintenance, this 348 GTB, produced in just over 220 copies, is in excellent condition and has 91,750 km on the clock. Configured in a Ferrari Red color, its body has no defects and the front shield has been repainted. Its black interior is also in excellent condition. The upholstery has very few signs of use for its age, and the dashboard is fully functional. The interior plastics have been redone to overcome the recurring problems on 90s models, and the leathers in the cabin are not discolored and keep a very clean appearance. Its body, door and trunk alignments are flawless and its body is healthy.
On the mechanical side, its V8 engine installed, in a 90-degree rear longitudinal position, develops its 320hp without any malfunction at 7,200 rpm. The start-up is carried out at a quarter turn and no extraneous noise is present. This 348 GTB offers vocalizations ranging from hoarding noise to shrill howling to loud noise, a true auditory pleasure that has remained intact since 1994. Coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the driving sensations are excellent.
The current owner has taken numerous actions to ensure that this 348 GTB can remain in the best possible condition. This example has a Ferrari certificate of conformity issued by the Ferrari Palau Mérignac Dealership and issued by the parent company. In 2016, it also benefited from a major revision worth €7,000 and a few additions. It also has an additional starter power system, and an anti-theft circuit breaker. Finally, it benefits from a replacement in 2020 of the two catalysts and Lambda probes. Its last revision was carried out in 2021 at the Ferrari Palau dealership. A duplicate of the keys, the original leather pouch, the maintenance book and the original tool case are supplied with the car.
The Ferrari 348 GTB is a distinctive milestone in the history of the prestigious Italian brand Ferrari. Inaugurated in 1989, this car represents a significant transition in the design and performance of the mid-rear engine V8 models from the Maranello firm. After the success of the 328 series, Ferrari was under pressure to produce a worthy successor. The answer was the 348, designed to compete directly with other supercars of the period.
Aesthetically, the 348 borrowed elements from the legendary F40, especially in the mesh side panels and the layout of the taillights. However, it maintained its own identity by incorporating more sculpted lines, with a lower profile and a strong visual presence. Under this body, the 348's chassis was built from a steel structure with tubular sections, ensuring rigidity and lightness. The position of the engine was longitudinal, unlike the 328, which was transverse, with a transverse gearbox, a first for a Ferrari production model.
Under the hood, the 348 was powered by a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter V8 engine. This unit produced a power of 300 hp at 7,200 rpm and a torque of 324 Nm at 5,000 rpm. Coupled with a five-speed manual transmission, it propelled the car to a maximum speed of around 275 km/h and allowed it to reach 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. In terms of suspension, the 348 used double wishbones that were superimposed at the front and rear. Ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels, combined with ABS, ensured powerful braking capacity.
Although GTB was the base coupe model, the 348 was also available in Spider (convertible) and GTS versions. Each of these variants has made specific changes according to its orientation, while maintaining the heart and soul of the original model. Upon its release, the 348 GTB was received with mixed reviews. Some praised its bold design and performance, while others criticized aspects of its handling. However, over time, it has become an integral part of Ferrari's history, testifying to a period of transition and evolution for the brand.
Today, the Ferrari 348 GTB is considered a modern classic, a testament to Italian engineering and design in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His contribution to the Ferrari heritage, both technically and aesthetically, is undeniable. It remains an essential link in the company's long chain of innovations and achievements.
