Our Corvette Z06 was delivered new in France and put into circulation on December 11, 2008. It has known 7 owners since its first laps, including the current one since June 15, 2022.
This copy is in excellent general condition. Its configuration in a Metallic Black color, combined with gray rims, red brake calipers, a black and red leather interior and an interior carbon package is superb and without any flaws.
Mechanically, its operation is flawless. This Corvette Z06 is equipped with a new engine, replaced following a malfunction of the previous one. Its 7L V8 engine developing 512 horsepower, combined with the 6-speed mechanical gearbox, easily delivers all its power and offers the rumble characteristic of Muscle Cars. Note the replacement of the valve guides in prevention for perfect functioning. The maintenance is carried out by brand specialists and numerous invoices can be consulted. The last interview was carried out in April 2023.
In the 1950s, the vice president responsible for design at General Motors, Harley J. Earl, observed a trend emerging in the automotive world. The races, which are increasingly followed, and the presence of English roadsters such as the Jaguar XK 120 or the Austins on American roads, show clear signs of a growing appeal for sportsmanship. Based on this observation, Harley J. Earl plans to create an inexpensive roadster, the Corvette C1. It is equipped with a 115-horsepower 6-cylinder in-line engine, to which are added 3 carburetors to reach 152 horsepower. The Corvette C1 is struggling to convince, due to its low power. The situation will be corrected with the following years, equipped with a V8 Small Block. This decision then saved the Corvette, which was available in 1962 in the C2 version.
The C3 and C4 generations were rather popular, despite difficulties related to anti-pollution standards, limiting the power of the C4 to only 240 horsepower. The Corvette C5 then corrected the situation by bringing the American model closer to European standards. General Motors continued on this path and developed a 6th generation. The Corvette C6 breaks with the traditional bodybuilt line, by presenting incisive lines. The rear part is equipped with real round lights and a dynamically designed air intake is placed on the sides to cool the engine. The design of the C6 allows it to be the most aerodynamic of its line, with a Cx of 0.28. The cabin remains in the tradition, but shines by its quality of finish and presentation, which is clearly improving.
On the engine side, the Corvette C6 has the most powerful V8 ever fitted to a production Corvette. The 405 horsepower is truly impressive. But General Motors is thinking bigger for its C6 Corvette, and is unveiling a radical version, the Z06.
The body of the Z06 has new air intakes, especially on the snout. Additional air intakes are also added in front of the rear wheel arches. The front shield is optimized, more aggressive and transfigures the performances of this new version. The C6's engine, which was the most powerful at the time, was quickly surpassed by the Z06 version, which had a 7.0L 512-horsepower V8. The 0-100 km/h speed is achieved in 3.9 seconds and the maximum speed is 320 km/h. The Z06 leaves no room for doubt, this is the worthy heritage of American muscle cars.
