Our Citroën DS21 D Super 5, with 84,900 km on the clock, was put into circulation on June 14, 1973 in France. This vehicle, in fourth hand, has always been maintained with the greatest care, as evidenced by its complete history file.
This model is presented in an elegant Bordeaux Red color, applied during its restoration in 2013, with a roof preserved in its original color (beige). The interior, in brown leather, is in perfect condition and testifies to the timeless refinement of the DS. The body is flawless, with the exception of a slightly damaged plastic rod, the only defect in presentation.
Under the hood, this D Super 5 is equipped with a 106-horsepower gasoline engine and a manual gearbox. The mechanics are flawless and work perfectly. The hydraulic suspensions, which made the DS famous, are in perfect condition. Maintenance was carried out exclusively by specialists in vintage vehicles, with a last revision carried out in May 2023. The consumables are in excellent condition, especially with four new tires recently installed. An oil change will be carried out before the sale. All original invoices and documents, including the notebook, are available.
The Citroën DS21 D Super 5 is a notable version of the famous Citroën DS, produced between 1955 and 1975. This revolutionary model marked the history of the automobile thanks to its innovative technologies and its avant-garde design, designed by Flaminio Bertoni and André Lefèbvre. Introduced in 1970, the D Super 5 represented a more affordable but powerful version, equipped with a 2175 cm³ engine and a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Citroën DS, sometimes nicknamed “Déesse” because of the pronunciation of its name in French, was distinguished by its self-levelling hydropneumatic suspension, invented by Paul Magès, which offered exceptional driving comfort. It was also the first production car to incorporate disc brakes and, later, directional headlights. Its aerodynamic body, available in saloon, station wagon and cabriolet, was designed to combine aesthetics and efficiency.
Produced in more than 1.4 million copies, the DS was a commercial and sporting success, winning prestigious rallies such as Monte Carlo. The D Super 5, despite its economic positioning, retained most of the innovations of the DS, while remaining accessible, reinforcing Citroën's heritage of technical excellence and style.
