Our Triumph TR4 was put into circulation on November 22, 1963 and today has a total of 97,500 km. Its current owner purchased it in 2024.
Presented in an elegant red color, this TR4 has a black interior in excellent condition. The body is in good condition and all the instrumentation works perfectly.
Under the hood, this British icon is equipped with a 2.1L engine developing 100 horsepower, coupled to a manual gearbox. The mechanics have been carefully maintained and underwent a complete overhaul carried out in March 2024. Maintained by classic car specialists in Loire and Aquitaine, this Triumph TR4 has a detailed history with a large file of invoices. The consumables are in very good condition and no costs are to be expected.

The Triumph TR4, produced between 1961 and 1965, succeeded the TR3A while maintaining its chassis and mechanics. Its design, created by the Italian Giovanni Michelotti, modernizes the range with a wider body and doors integrating descending windows, replacing the side curtains.
As early as 1956, Triumph was working on a successor to the TR3, but financial constraints and internal disagreements slowed the project down. Michelotti first proposed the TR3 Speciale concept, which was considered too expensive. In 1958, he developed two prototypes, the “Zest” and the “Zoom”, the latter being tested in competition at Le Mans in 1960 and 1961 in the form of the TRS.
Finally, the TR4's design is based on Zest, with elements borrowed from Zoom, such as the extended lane and the hardtop option. Its four-cylinder engine increases to 2.1 liters, with a fully synchronized four-speed gearbox and optional overdrive. The chassis is similar to that of the TR3, with an independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering.
Produced in more than 40,000 units, mainly for the American market, the TR4 marks a transition towards more comfortable roadsters while remaining true to Triumph's sporting DNA.
