Our Porsche 911 SC, put into circulation during the year 1981 in Canada, is a US model that was rediscovered in a barn in Montreal before being imported into France in 2020. Its current owner has covered 10,000 km in 4 years, taking the greatest care of its maintenance.
This example features a superb Bordeaux hue, combined with a brown/raspberry leather interior, enhanced by aesthetic improvements such as the addition of leather to the rear window and dashboard. The paint was polished three years ago and the frame is healthy, with all rust spots removed.
On the mechanical side, this 911 SC develops 204 horsepower thanks to its engine completely revised in 2024. Recent interventions include:
- Complete engine release and overhaul
- Engine and gearbox oil change
- Replacing the oil cooler, wiring, and fuel hoses
- Electronic and mechanical reliability
- Change the accelerator cable, starter, alternator and belt
- New engine and gearbox mounts
- Front lights replaced
This Porsche was maintained by B.I. Collection BE AG, a Swiss specialist in vehicle restoration. The on-board instrumentation is fully functional, and no costs are to be expected. As for consumables, the rear tires are recent, the brakes are in good condition and the front tires, although not very worn, are a few years old.
This example has a car radio, a 5-speed gearbox, a spare tire and a battery switch.
The Porsche 911 SC, introduced in 1978, marks a significant evolution in the line of 911s. The acronym “SC” (Super Carrera) was reused for the first time since the 356 SC. Equipped with a 3.0 liter aluminum engine, it adopts Bosch K-Jetronic injection and a 5-speed manual gearbox type 915. Its power increased from 180 hp to 204 hp in 1981.
The initial objective was to replace the 911 with the 928, but its commercial success led Porsche to review its strategy and extend the production of the model. In 1981, a cabriolet prototype with all-wheel drive was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The serial version, marketed as early as 1983, became the first Porsche cabriolet since the 356 in the 1960s.
The SC model benefits from an optimized chassis and a more robust body. In all, 58,914 units were produced until 1983. It was under the leadership of Peter W. Schutz that the 911 was saved from abandonment, marking a decisive turning point for Porsche. The heritage of the SC contributes to the sustainability of the 911 model, which will remain a pillar of the brand.
