Developed in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette was first presented at the 1953 Motorama in New York. Born out of the imagination of Harley Earl, a 20th century designer, the first generation Corvette will receive mixed reviews from buyers due to its overpriced price and its rather ordinary performances. In 1962, more than 69,000 Corvettes were still assembled.
In 1963, Chevrolet found a new lease of life with the arrival of the Corvette Sting Ray, a real success signed by Larry Shinoda and Bill Mitchell. Equipped with a 250hp V8 engine, it was improved in terms of performance in 1966 with the arrival of the 425 hp V8 propelling it from 0 to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds. Chevrolet Corvette fans are also waiting for a 3rd generation scheduled for 1968, the Corvette C3.
Inspired by the Mako Shark II concept, the 1968 Corvette C3 became the most popular of the 3 versions. Produced with a 435 hp V8 engine, it impresses with its design, its power and the sensations offered. This 3rd generation is still one of the most emblematic of the American brand today. It was succeeded later by 5 other generations of Corvettes, continuing the myth.
