This Porsche 911 Targa 2.2 was put into circulation in 1971. It has four owners, the last of which kept it for 9 years. Its current mileage is 145,000 KM.
This copy is distinguished by its rare original Burgundy color, which was repainted and polished about ten years ago, while respecting its original color. All gaskets were changed on this occasion. The body is in perfect condition, with no signs of corrosion.
The interior is completely original, with preserved black seats and interior. Only the carpet has been replaced to freshen up the whole thing. The on-board instrumentation is fully functional.
Mechanically, this Porsche is simply flawless. Its 2.2l Flat 6 engine is prepared to deliver 170 horsepower and works perfectly. It has always been maintained by Porsche specialists, and its history is complete, including all invoices since its release as well as a notebook meticulously kept by each owner.
A mechanical check-up was carried out for the sale. The consumables are in excellent condition, and no costs are to be expected.
The Porsche 911 Targa was created in 1967, responding to a regulatory challenge in the United States. At the time, safety standards threatened convertibles, pushing Porsche to design a model with a fixed stainless steel roll cage. This innovative concept, named “Targa” in homage to the Targa Florio, an iconic race where Porsche had triumphed, offered a compromise between coupe and cabriolet. It was equipped with a removable hard top and, initially, a plastic rear window that was also removable, which was later replaced by a glass version.
The 911 Targa maintains the fundamental features of the 911, such as the rear-mounted flat-six engine. The first versions were powered by a 2.0-liter engine developing between 110 and 160 horsepower depending on the variant. It combined 2+2 architecture and typical Porsche suspension, offering precise handling despite the engine's rear position.
The Targa quickly established itself as an icon, standing out for its unique style and its connection to the world of competition. Even today, the Targa version is a pillar of the 911 range, embodying Porsche's innovation and heritage for over five decades.
